Pringle of Scotland AW’12 – Menswear

As many of you know I recently popped along to the Pringle of Scotland AW’12 press day hosted by Modus PR.

I am a massive fan of this brand – mainly because it’s British, high-quality and so on-trend right now! The SS’12 collection featured cool knitwear that harked back to the ancestral two-piece. Alistair Carr has transformed this ageing label into something that the fashion crowd covet and us regular folk aspire to.

The knitwear for AW’12 is so strong, as you would expect, with a range of cool, quirky fabrications and finishes that add a touch of luxe to a basic, wardrobe staple.

The collar detailing on these round- and v-neck jumpers makes for an interesting and playful design detail.

This knit had a mesh-like quality about it and the neon-blue really stands out. I think this needs to be on my shopping list for the coming season!

This coated fabric had a wicker-esque appearance. It also reminds me of medieval chain-mail armour. Would look fantastic with a simple pair of tailored shorts/trousers.

Tailoring was also a strong point for the menswear collection with a super-soft, luxurious biker in a wool-mix really standing out. I also loved the leather panelling on blazer jackets. These small, subtle design choices make a big impact in the crowded menswear market and it’s pleasing to see a British brand setting the trends rather than a French or Italian counterpart.

I like how the leather panelling on the sleeve extends to the mid-forearm. A quirky detail which works so well in this collection.

LOVE this! Need this for AW’12. A great classic jacket given a modern twist.

Pringle of Scotland AW’12 – Womenswear

Pringle of Scotland held their show this morning for AW’12 at the Philips de Pury Gallery in Victoria with a stellar turn-out.

The collection was typical Pringle with chunky knitwear, sharp tailored suiting and classic, well-cut coats.

I did, however, love the neon-pink knitted jumper as well as the cute roll-necks in a range of soft hues. There were also neat colour details on basic overcoats. The fabrications were varied and complex with intricate detailing on knitwear. Leather also had a heavy prominence with leather jackets, skirts and trousers all taking a place on the catwalk. Camel was another key colour – an indication of the staying power of this wardrobe-staple hue.

This is the first collection I have seen during London Fashion Week that screams Autumn/Winter. It’s great to turn out fun, simple dresses but if they’re not going to keep you warm in the harsh winters we now get what’s the point in churning them out at all?!

Alistair Carr is doing a great job at turning the brand around without losing sight of its rich heritage. It is difficult to make a knitwear brand look sexy and cool but Carr is sure to do well; especially given his design history with previous work at Balenciaga.

Bottega Veneta Menswear SS’12

I haven’t really given much focus to the men’s Bottega collection before but for SS’12 I am rather impressed. I am in love with some of the bags and certain pieces of the R-T-W. I accept that the majority of the collection is rather conservative for my tastes, however, I have spotted an amazing pair of jeans as well as coloured suits, part leather; part denim bikers and cool knitted jumpers that look oh so cool for summer!

I must have these jeans!!! They’re quite Christopher Kane but I love the mix of colours…

LOVE the multi-coloured bag… it reminds me of a tasty battenburg!
