Teddy Bear Coats

I feel a coat theme coming on… Not only have I discussed pea coats today but I’m now thinking of the perfect teddy bear coat too.

Teddy bear coats generally resemble a giant teddy bear in terms of the fabric and its texture. I think they can look amazing on the right person and awful on some but it’s a big trend for AW’12-13 and it’s one that I really want to embrace.

To do it properly you have to be prepared to invest heavily. Teddy bear coats are generally made from shearling or angora with some even pushing the boundaries by coming in rabbit. A vintage version is probably the cheapest option but the smell of vintage shearling is enough to make me run for the bank to obtain an over-inflated loan!

Below is a selection of coats I have found online… I think the Alexander McQueen one is a strong contender although Margiela and Richard James have also produced some pretty nice versions that should definitely be considered.

Thom Browne Baseball Jacket

I adore Thom Browne and his quirky sensibility and I love the fact that Mr Porter have started stocking some of his pieces.

The cut and finish of his garments is second-to-none and in my opinion he is one of the best menswear designers currently available. I already own a pair of basketball-esque shorts from his SS’12 collection and I think this cotton baseball jacket with leather sleeves would fit perfectly in my wardrobe.

Now, I just need to find £995 and said jacket can be mine!

Mr Porter at London Collections: Men

Mr Porter produced a trio of short-films that helped to capture the essence of the recent London Collections: Men. They didn’t focus on the shows themselves but instead looked at the people on the street (what they wore and who shot them) as well as asking a bevy of male ‘fashionistors’ (my male equivalent of a ‘fashionista’) what they are most looking forward to come AW’12.

Church’s Buckden Oxfords

So I have landed myself a new job with an amazing company starting next month. I now need a pair of sturdy, comfortable and classic leather shoes to see me through.

I have always wanted a pair of Church’s. The classic styles and craftsmanship of this established British brand make for a compelling product.

These Buckden Oxfords will be perfect and I cannot wait to acquire them on payday.

I really want to polish the toe caps so that they are super shiny!

My Givenchy Obsession

I have lost count of the number of posts I have created on Givenchy and I’m afraid to say this is yet another one!

I loved the SS’12 collection but I was mightily shocked at how expensive everything from it was. I appreciate that each piece is of exceptional quality and that the clothes are unique and make a statement but I find it difficult to justify £435 for a t-shirt or £850 for a pair of jeans.

Pay day is around the corner and I am desperate to get my hands on one of the catwalk pieces before they’re all snapped up. I think I might just have to bite my lip and stump up the cash for this amazing t-shirt. I love the print, the colours and the oversized fit.

Acne Scout Shorts

I love this print. It’s a fun camouflage!

There’s a shirt version that I am also pining after although Mr Porter don’t stock it which is a real shame :-(

Definitely need to invest in these in time for the good weather that I’m hoping we’ll get come summer time… I’d pair with the shirt version or something a little simpler. Could also work with a contrasting print though for that ultimate clash effect!
