Mr Porter visit Grenson Shoes

Second Mr Porter post of the day and this time I thought you’d like to see their latest video!

The team at Mr Porter paid a visit to the Grenson shoe factory in Northamptonshire. The company has been around since 1866 and still utilises traditional shoe-making techniques to produce quality styles including Brogues, Derbys, Oxfords and Loafers.

The craftsmanship involved in producing a single pair of shoes is extraordinary and the quality is second to none. I am a particular fan of their Stanley Wingtip Brogue. The shoe has a classic, leather sole with typical brogue detailing.

The video beautifully showcases the processes a pair of Grenson shoes go through from start to finish including the leather scouring, cutting and stitching as well as the moulding and lacing.

Grenson has a transactional website and Mr Porter stock a selection here.

‘Essential’ Trainers

I always like to stay relevant and I also like to talk about trainers.

So, I decided to make a post about ‘essential’ trainers. When I say ‘essential’ trainers I mean trainers that everyone should own. Classics as well as contemporaries that belong in every man’s wardrobe. Some are cheap and easy to find whilst others are more elusive and expensive. Try and see how many you can tick off from my list below!

There are a lot more that I could put down but I think this selection gives a fair overview of the trainer market. Plus, I think all of these trainers are perfect for right now!!

My First Mr. Porter Purchase

A special package arrived for me today from Mr. Porter.

In it was my first ever order and hopefully one of many to come!

As some of you may know I really wanted the Rag & Bone Hawaiian-Print shirt and today I own said shirt.

The packaging Mr Porter use gives a true luxury experience to internet shopping with thick-white boxes, black tissue paper and a personalised sticker to hold it all together. I cannot wait to start wearing my latest purchase and I definitely can’t bring myself to part with the packaging it came in!

The shirt is available from Mr Porter now – £130

Rag & Bone Hawaiian-Print Shirt

I attended a little SS’12 party hosted by Mr Porter at the fab Mark’s bar in Soho on Monday night.

The evening provided me with the chance to see key pieces from the SS’12 collections on sale now whilst enjoying delicious, old-fashioned cocktails in a cool, relaxed environment.

Each attendee was given a £50 gift voucher by Mr Porter – allowing them to treat themselves to a little something from the wealth of options available online.

I myself have fallen for this Rag & Bone Hawaiian-Print shirt that was on show at the event and that has had a wealth of media coverage over the past few weeks. I also spotted it during London Fashion Week on a very well dressed individual. I just need to wait until payday in order to be able stump up the rest of the money needed to invest in this cool, summer wardrobe staple.

Mr Porter at London Fashion Week

The dapper gents from Mr Porter were out in force today at London Fashion Week.

Looking suitably smart in matching outfits; the guys were there to hand out the latest issue of The Journal.

The weather didn’t hold out for long and before you knew it all you could see where massive, white Mr Porter-brand brollies.

The vintage Jag was also a nice, gentlemanly touch!

Marni Printed Short-Sleeved Shirt

Marni for H&M launches imminently but how about an authentic Marni shirt from Mr Porter?

This would be perfect for the summer mixed with chino shorts and deck shoes or pale denim and classic brown Church’s.

Me, on the otherhand, I’d pair it with clashing prints for a visual feast… As usual!

Lanvin Striped T-Shirt

I am having a t-shirt phase at the moment. Christopher Kane and Jil Sander are both tickling my fancy and now Lanvin has also joined the club…

I like the simplicity of a striped t-shirt however I love a striped t-shirt with a twist. The panelling effect on this Lanvin number has the effect of making the wearer look both broader and taller.

Dream Outfit No.4

I decided it was about time I created another look from the new pieces available from Mr Porter. I am a big fan of this site and their buys are becoming more and more appealing as each season passes.

I love the reptile print Jil Sander t-shirt and the luxe sweatpants from Lanvin make a great wardrobe staple. I’m all for a great Burberry Prorsum jacket and the YSL boots are just classic and easy. Quite a weird combo I admit but I think the overall look could make for quite a cool, casual ensemble.

Jacket - Burberry Prorsum: £1,295; Trousers – Lanvin: £270; T-Shirt – Jil Sander: £190; Shoes – Yves Saint Laurent: £690; Watch – Uniform Wares: £110

All clothing and shoes is available from Mr Porter
